Welcome to NerdBird. My name is Andrea, and I’m glad you’re here.
NerdBird is a new project for me, or rather set of projects. My previous blog was 2010vanfan, a daily blog that I started 210 days before the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and continued (nearly) daily through to the end of the Paralympic Winter Games. All in all I wrote for 228 without a break and several more days past that – a total of 36 weeks! It started as a personal way to ensure that I was involved in Vancouver 2010 everyday, a way to make sure that I didn’t miss a thing. It turned into a passion for writing and blogging and a dream to continue sharing with readers from around the world. The result is NerdBird!
The name? Well, I’m more than a bit of a ‘nerd’. I love to learn and have spent way more than my fair share of time in schools of one sort or another. And ‘bird’? A good friend of mine calls girls ‘birds’ so that fits too. NerdBird is my place to share and explore many of the things that I’m interested in. I am hoping that it will be flexible enough that I can include several different projects as my interests and activities change. My first two projects are called Rocks and the City and Happiness Cafe. I hope you enjoy.
*Disclaimer* – At this point I do not receive any financial or in-kind support from any of the companies, websites or people that I mention in my blog. If this changes at any point I will make it clear that this situation is different to ensure that everyone is aware of any potential bias, though I will continue to write honestly and openly about the things that see, do and participate in, regardless of the situation. Currently I may receive compensation from the GoogleAds that I have on the site if you choose to click on them, but only if you choose to click on them. Please do not feel any obligation to do so. Cheers – Andrea.
