Chevron folding

Angular folding with straight limbs and small hinges.

Oolitic limestone

Oolite – means ‘egg stone’.  A sedimentary rock composed of spherical grains formed in concentric layers. Oolitic limestone is formed primarily of calcium carbonate.  Bath stone is a famously quarried material and was used to create the distinctive white facades of large portions of the city of Bath in England.

Riprap

Riprap – large stone boulders used to prevent erosion by water.  Found along river, lake and shorefaces.  Often composed of hard rocks such as granitoids.
